How To Maintain Your Computer Hardware

Hardware maintenance is very essential in any computer device be it desktop computer, laptop, table top, notebook, palm top or whichever. Maintenance may not be done every minutes or hours but required on occasional basis:

In case there is malfunction in your keyboard keys or mouse is not working as expected, here is what to do, clean the input unit or buy mouse, keyboard and CD cleaning tools so as to make sure they aren’t dirty. If you want to consider removing dust from them, you can buy a good vacuum or compressed air can. The only time you shouldn’t clean your keyboard is when it has been spilled by liquid, in that case your best option is to buy a new one.

There is no type of computer hardware no matter the make, type, model and terms of use that doesn’t have life cycle. You are free to change any of them just as if you want to replace from serial to USB mouse especially when the older one is bad. You may also decide to upgrade from traditional to ergonomic keyboard.

If you are printing and discover that part of your data is not showing on paper, then it calls for the cleaning of your printer because of old ink stored in the roller due to reoccurring paper jam. According to the printer specifications, use cloth and the right cleaning solution when cleaning affected parts. If you have enough cash, you can change the cartridge that caused the leakage. Most recycled printer cartridge spoils faster due to the frequent refills, which can also cause low quality prints. In summary the person that is supposed to clean or maintain the computer hardware should be someone who is exposed to the required equipment.

When taking off paper jams from your printer, be very careful and don’t be it in a hurry to check the part to clear according to the printer’s signal before taking off the paper. There may be pieces of paper that may not come out at that time.

Taking care of your files on your computer is very important especially when you want to install new applications. The data on your computer has a particular place they are saved on the hard drive. If your hard drive has low capacity, it will cause the computer to be slow since those data look for place to create copies of your files you’re using. When this happens, windows will alert you don’t have enough space to move on. What you should do is to empty recycle bin, uninstall programs that aren’t relevant to you and delete unnecessary files from your hard drive.

Another file that won’t give you problems is the temporary files which are automatically stored any time you install program, attached files on your email, browse websites, register/subscribe to site which are also called cookies. Use the Windows commands to delete them permanently.
During the spinning of the hard drive, files stored on the available space that has not been used up, It then relocate some files on other used space until it is eventually filled up.  This is why files take time to open when a command is issued. In this case, defragmentation is done to rearrange the files to store each in one place to increase the speed of your computer.
If you don’t know how to upgrade or maintain your computer hardware, please look for someone who can do it for you at little cost except minor replacement like putting extra RAM on your computer which could be done yourself.
